掺镱光纤可选纤芯泵浦或者包层泵浦(双包层)设计。纤芯泵浦光纤非常适合低功率应用,有源光纤长度很短,其类似远程通信的几何形状便于拼接和处理,并且兼容低成本泵浦二极管和标准无源单模(SM)光纤。
与纤芯泵浦有源光纤相比,包层泵浦双包层的效率更高,输出功率更高。包层泵浦光纤为双包层,意味着光纤的镀层作为第二包层,允许**包层具备波导功能。一般地,双包层光纤的纤芯为低NA单模光纤或者大模场(LMA)光纤,用于激发光;**包层为高NA和多模,用于泵浦光。
