An analog of antimycin A which binds to the hydrophobic groove of Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL thereby inducing apoptosis. It displays selective cytotoxicity for Bcl-XL-expressing cells (10 µg/ml). Unlike antimycin A it does not exhibit general mitochondrial toxicity.
