When building optomechanical assemblies with our 30mm Cage System, polarization control is a frequent requirement. Our CRM1 and CRM1P cage rotation mounts provide the ideal mechanism for the mounting and precision rotation of Linear Polarizers and Waveplates. The smooth 360° continuous rotating action provides the positional sensitivity necessary for the precision alignment required by common polarization optics.

CRM1 Manual Rotation Mount
The CRM1 provides a lockable 360° continuously rotatable optic carriage housed within a 30mm cage plate. The rotating dial is graduated in 2° increments and labeled every 20°. The top-located witness line is etched into an angled surface in order to maximize its viewing angle. The SM1 (1.035"-40) tapped carriage is capable of directly accepting 1" (25mm) optics up to 10mm thick, held in place with an SM1RR retaining ring (available below).

CRM1P Precision Micrometer Driven Rotation Mount
The CRM1P offers many of the same features of the above listed CRM1 with the enhanced functionality of a precision micrometer drive for ultra-fine rotation adjustments. This feature makes precision alignment of multiple polarizers and/or waveplates simple, while the 5 arcmin resolution of the vernier scale is an excellent reference tool for repeatable relative and absolute angular positioning.

Compatibility: Thorlabs offers 16mm, 30mm and 60mm cage systems designed for 1/2", 1" and 2" optical components (respectively). The parts on this page are compatible with our 30mm cage system and utilize 6mm ER cage rods. In addition, the mounts on this page are equipped with SM1 Lens Tube threading allowing easy mounting of lens tube compatible components.
